The best in Flintshire turned out at Soughton Hall, Northop on Friday 25th as the Flintshire Business Awards rewarded the county’s top firms.

A gala dinner hosted be local comedian John Martin saw more than 200 businesses attending, with more than 40 award submissions.

The gala event was attended by Delyn MP David Hanson, Chair of Flintshire County Council Carolyn Thomas, Flintshire County Council leader Aaron Shotton and Flintshire business leaders.

Also in attendance were former Flintshire MP Lord Barry Jones and his wife.

Paula Jewson, co founder of West Coast Energy was one of the award winners on the night.

She won the Women into Business award sponsored by Mococo - winner of last years women into business award as well the Business Person of the Year award sponsored by the headline sponsor - AGS Security Systems.

Speaking at the event, Paula Jewson said: "I’m delighted to have won these awards and feel very honoured by this recognition."

"I feel my success is a tribute not just to my own work but also to the endeavours of a fantastic team at West Coast Energy and to my business colleagues throughout Flintshire and beyond."

"I look forward to continuing to contribute to the future success of West Coast Energy and to business generation in Flintshire". Jonathan Turner, MD of AGS Security Systems (who sponsored the event) and judge of the Business Person of the Year Award, said "An outstanding submission and well deserved recipient for the Business Person of the Year Award."

"Paula’s submission met all criteria demonstrating outstanding financial performance, clear future vision, sustained growth and a great ambassador and standard bearer for Flintshire.”

The awards celebrated Flintshire’s best businesses over the last 12 months.

Finalists were chosen from nominated entries supplied to the Flintshire County Council Business Support team, and each winner was chosen by the award sponsor.

The advanced manufacturing award sponsored by Airbus, was win by Ace Lifts.

The Coleg Cambria sponsored Apprenticeship award was won by Josh Jenkins at the DRB Group.

Oil Monster triumphed in the Start up Business Award sponsored by Duncan Sheard Glass, while the Innovation and Creativity Award sponsored by Gelicity UK was won by S & T Systems.

Taking the Glyndwr University People Development Award was Day Dream Designs and The ICR Group won the Small Business Award.
